In Year One, you discovered the Earth was a sphere, spins on an axis and orbits the sun.
In this section, you will learn about the internal structure of the Earth, the concept of
continental drift, and the theory of plate tectonics. You will find out that over the vast
length of geological time, the Earth’s crust has constantly been created and destroyed,
and parts are always on the move. For example, millions of years ago, an old continent
broke up and the pieces of it have drifted into the positions that can now be recognised
as Africa, Asia and the Americas. Finally, you will learn about the processes which
create two of the Earth’s major landforms, mountains and plains.
I am a passionate and dedicated educator with a Bachelor of Education in Social Science, specializing in Geography and Economics. I enjoy helping students understand concepts clearly and confidently by connecting lessons to real-life situations and everyday experiences.
